Two associations representing different industries have announced new ad campaigns to get their issues out in front of voters as the presidential election season kicks into full swing.
Financial Services Roundtable and Airlines for America are among the first business groups to announce issue-oriented ad campaigns now that each party's presidential candidates have largely been determined. They likely won't be the last.
"Presidential candidates should outline for the American people how they will grow the economy, encourage innovation and modernize our regulatory system to help consumers and protect taxpayers," FSR CEO Tim Pawlenty said.
FSR is planning to highlight a different financial industry issue every week in the lead up to both parties' national conventions, which will be held in the latter half of July. The group also has joined several other financial trade associations in launching an ad campaign highlighting what they say is the need for data security legislation. http://bit.ly/1syWsqP
At the same time, A4A announced the start of "We Connect the World," a series of ads to remind voters and policymakers "of the important benefits and value that only the airline industry can offer."
The ads feature a "ramp marshaller"—the person who signals airplanes with brightly colored handheld cones—who helps daydreaming professionals escape their "boring, everyday" lives.
"It's creative and memorable, using fun transformational moments to underscore the impact of air travel to us individually and to our national economy," said Jean Medina, A4A's senior vice president of communications.
A4A's ads will appear on TV, print and digital media in the Washington, D.C., market. http://bit.ly/20vRlTo
